Visual Map of Learning Space
This is the 'swamp' that I will be redesigning in hopes of creating a quality space for learning. I have identified the positive and negative aspects of the 'swamp' and identified the specific design problems I will be focusing on.
All photo's on this page have been taken by myself on my tour of this learning space.

Positive Design Aspects of the Space
This is a photo taken from the corner of the swamp. It highlights the size of the learning space and the ability this space has at allowing for whole class lessons. With white boards, pin boards and computers throughout the space it provides opportunities for multiple uses.
Negative Aspects of the Space
This photo reveals the view that students get when they are seated at the desktop computer. There is limited appeal on the wall and though the students are seated next to each other collaboration is limited due to seats and table constraints.

This photo highlights some major design problems of this room. There are desktop computers facing the walls on all sides. There are two bulky laptop storage cubes in the middle of the room and there is no colour on the walls except for a red pin board.
|
In this photo it captures the row of desktop computers positioned in front of windows that have blinds drawn creating a stark white wall. The pin board offers some colour but is underused in this space.
|
This view of the swamp is from the door and upon entry to the left is the first row of desktop computers and on the far wall some more computers. This photo identifies how the room prevents group interaction within the space. It also highlights the lack of visual appeal the room has with it's white walls, ceiling and off white tables.

- Model of tables and chairs
- Use of pin boards and whiteboards to enhance learning opportunities
- Integration of laptops and ipads into the learning space
- Furniture that suits different learners
- Utilisation of projector screen and boards around the room
